Patricia Marie Scarlett

Scarlett’s early experience in the industry began at TVOntario where she worked primarily in international sales. As a highly successful Sales Executive at  TVOntario, she initiated and closed TVOntario’s first educational broadcast and educational non-broadcast sales in Brazil. During that time, she developed and nurtured a few valuable relationships with developed and nurtured a few valuable relationships with producers and broadcasters which have culminated in several significant professional achievements, including her representation of Ataranjuat: The Fast Runner, winner of the Camera D’Or at the 2001 Cannes International Film Festival. She regularly attends industry trade events such as  MIP-TV & MIPCOM in Cannes, France.


Over the span of her career, Scarlett has comfortably worn many hats, including those of serial entrepreneur and consultant. Her newest venture, Media Business Institute is a Toronto-based TV training and production company. Scarlett's production credits Include the following: Ray of Hope (Documentary Feature); Of Cod & Rum: The Newfoundland Connection (Documentary Feature); RasTa: A Soul's Journey (Documentary Feature); Rastafari Then and Now: A Message From Jamaica (Documentary); Crazy Opera (Animated Christmas Special); Mighty Machines, Season 2 (Children’s-Live Action Series).


Three years ago, Patricia began work on her first novel, Blinded by the Brass Ring. It is informed by the many journals she has kept over the years about the inner and outer workings of the domestical and international TV industry. The manuscript has been acquired by Baraka Books, a Montreal-based publisher. The novel was published spring 2023. It is the first of eight books in the Jewelle Joseph book series that features TV markets and film festivals as the background against which the story of Jewelle Joseph’s family and friends unfold.
